Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary FAQ

Three programs run in Chiang Mai: Half-Day Morning, Half-Day Afternoon and Full-Day. Each Chiang Mai program includes transport, a guide, feeding, walking with the elephants, lunch and insurance. No riding, no shows. The Half-Day programs take about 5–6 hours including transfer, and the Full-Day program takes about 8 hours, for anyone who wants more time with the elephants.

The Chiang Mai Half-Day program costs ฿2,200 per adult and ฿1,400 per child under 12, and children under 4 join free. The Chiang Mai Full-Day program costs ฿2,800 per adult and ฿2,000 per child under 12. All prices are in Thai baht and include transport, a guide, lunch, elephant food and insurance.

The Chiang Mai Half-Day Morning and Half-Day Afternoon programs each take about 5–6 hours, including the transfer from your hotel and back. The Chiang Mai Full-Day program takes about 8 hours. Morning pickup is about 07:00–07:30 and Afternoon pickup is about 13:30–14:00, so you can plan the rest of your day around it.

Yes, hotel pickup is included on every Chiang Mai program, and it’s free across the Old Town and anywhere inside the Superhighway ring road. Staying further out? Our team will confirm any extra fee or a meeting point before you pay. Morning pickup is about 07:00–07:30, and Afternoon pickup is about 13:30–14:00.

Hotel pickup is free across Chiang Mai Old Town and all areas inside the Superhighway ring road. If you’re outside that zone, a small extra fee may apply, or we can meet you at an agreed meeting point, usually Central Festival or a PTT petrol station. Our team confirms the exact spot when you book.

Chiang Mai Half-Day Morning pickup is about 07:00–07:30, and Half-Day Afternoon pickup is about 13:30–14:00. It helps to be ready at your hotel from the very start of the pickup window.

The drive from Chiang Mai Old Town to the sanctuary takes about 1 hour each way. The good news: that transfer time is already counted in the program length, so the Half-Day programs take about 5–6 hours in total and the Full-Day program about 8 hours, including hotel pickup and drop-off.

On the Chiang Mai program you feed the elephants, walk alongside them and spend time just watching them go about their day. River activity happens only when the elephants lead it and conditions are suitable. Lunch is included on every Chiang Mai program, and there’s no riding and no shows.
